Diner Booking Terms

Last updated: 7 April 2026

These terms apply to guests (“diners”) making reservations through booking pages powered by Posto. Your booking is with the restaurant operator, not with Posto. Posto is the technology provider that facilitates the booking on the operator's behalf.

1. Your reservation

When you complete a booking through a Posto-powered page, you are making a reservation directly with the restaurant (“the venue”). Posto facilitates the booking process but is not a party to your reservation agreement.

Your booking is confirmed when you receive a confirmation email from the venue. Please check your spam folder if you do not receive this within a few minutes of booking.

2. Deposits

Some venues require a deposit at the time of booking. Where a deposit is required:

  • The amount and any applicable cancellation policy will be displayed before you confirm your booking.
  • Deposits are processed securely by Stripe. Posto and the venue do not store your card details.
  • The deposit policy (including refund terms) is set by the venue and will be shown at the point of booking.
  • Refunds are subject to the venue's cancellation policy and the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

3. Cancellation and modification

To cancel or modify your booking, use the link in your confirmation email, which takes you to your personal booking management page. Alternatively, contact the venue directly.

Cancellation policies (including any charges for late cancellations or no-shows) are set by the venue and will be communicated at the time of booking.

4. Your personal data

When you make a booking, the following data is collected and stored:

  • Name, email address, and phone number
  • Booking details (date, time, party size, occasion)
  • Special requests (which may include dietary requirements)

The venue is the Data Controller for your personal data. Posto processes this data on the venue's behalf as a Data Processor under UK GDPR.

Dietary and health information is special category data under UK GDPR and is stored only for the period necessary to fulfil your reservation. It will be automatically deleted within 48 hours of your booking date.

For full details of how your data is used, retained, and your rights (including the right to erasure), see our Privacy Policy. To exercise your rights, contact the venue directly or email privacy@getposto.com.

5. Marketing communications

You will only receive marketing emails from the venue if you have explicitly opted in at the time of booking. You may withdraw consent at any time by using the unsubscribe link in any marketing email.

Booking confirmation emails and reservation reminders are sent as part of fulfilling your reservation and do not require separate consent.

6. Liability

Posto is a technology platform and is not responsible for the services provided by the venue. Any dispute regarding your dining experience, deposits, or cancellations should be addressed directly with the venue in the first instance.

Posto's liability to diners is limited to the proper functioning of the booking technology. We are not liable for the actions or omissions of any venue.

7. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from the use of Posto's booking technology shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

8. Contact
